3 Private Secondary Schools Closed In Yei, CES

16 February 2011 – (Yei) – Education authorities in Yei River county say they have closed three private secondary schools in Yei town because they do not offer a conducive environment for learning.

The Budgeting, Planning and Statistics officer in the Ministry of Education Science and Technology in Yei, Dolloby Jacob Riddy told SRS from Yei on Wednesday that the schools are Nile High, Yei Town College and Bright Horizon.

[Dolloby Jacob]: “Three schools that have been closed down, one is Nile High secondary school owned by a Ugandan, second is Yei Town college l think it is owned in partnership with the Ugandans and then the Sudanese are there. Bright Horizon just behind Otogo Pharmacy is owned by a Sudanese. The issue had been like this, Nile High has been operating in a market, Agoro market. And they had been informed to remove the side of the school to a conducive learning environment area since 2009. Yei town college and Bright Horizon are all operating in areas which are not conducive.’’

Mister Dolloby said that the closure of the schools is coinciding with resumption of studies after the Christmas break.
