AMDISS Appealing For Media Bills To Be Passed Before Referendum
13 July 2010 - (Juba) – The Association for Media Development In southern Sudan is appealing to the GoSS to pass the media bill before referendum.
This statement comes after a delay in passing of the media law which was presented to the parliament in 2009.
The secretary for AMDISS spoke to SRS in Juba on Monday.
[Hakim Moi] “What we need is the legal framework in southern Sudan for media. We have a set of media bills which have been going on for a very long time without being passed. These bills are expected to be passed. So, that is the first thing that we want to get, hopefully before the referendum. We need to have the media bills passed so that we have a media legal framework to which all media organizations will abide by and work with.”
