Bashir To Attend IGAD Special Summit On Sudan In Ethiopia
22 November 2010 – (Khartoum) – President Omar Al-Bashir will attend the Inter-Governmental Authority for Development special summit on Sudan in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia scheduled for 23rd of November.
President Bashir will be accompanied by the 1st Vice President and GOSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit and a high level delegation.
The advisor to the minister of information in the federal government, Rabie Abdullaati spoke to SRS from Khartoum on Monday.
[Rabie Abdullaati]: “The president field marshal, Omar Hassan Al-Bashir will participate in the IGAD summit meeting in Addis Ababa with a high delegation led by him. The delegation members will be the minister of foreign affairs mister Ali Karti, and also the presidential adviser doctor Mustafa Osman Ismael. I think that this IGAD summit will be for different issues and the Sudan delegation will actively participate in this summit especially in issues of the Sudan, the peace agreement as well as the peace negotiations in Al-Doha. The contribution of Sudan will be a distinguished regarding all issues related to Sudan government.”
The summit is expected to discuss post referendum issues, the north-south border demarcation and the Abyei referendum.
The IGAD summit was originally to be held in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi last October but it was later relocated to Addis Ababa to avert a potential diplomatic crisis over Bashir’s attendance.
