Come And Invest In The South, Urges Official

10 November 2010 – (Juba) – The GOSS Minister of Information and Broadcasting is calling on both local and international investors to invest in the region saying the investment environment is very conducive.

Addressing a press conference in Juba on Tuesday, the minister Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the south is secure for investment.

[Barnaba Marial Benjamin]: “I think the south is very secure for any investor, on top of this for the investors themselves we have got the best investment law in the region now. You look at the investment law of Southern Sudan; it is better than the one in Khartoum and better than that of our neighbors. And you know how it was done? We didn’t do it out of the blues; we had to find out from so many countries what their investment laws were. So there is an attractive investment law for the investor. As it says we can register your company here as a partner with local population or on your own you can register your company and check out your profit within forty eight hours within the law. Where does this happen? So the laws are very attractive to the investor now, within six years and that’s why the World Bank says that we the fast growing economy now. ’’
