Confusion In WES As Registration Takes Place

17 November 2010 – (Yambio) – The authorities in Western Equatoria state are calling on the people to be calm after a group of people allegedly from Wulu county in Lakes state wanted to establish new registration centers in Mvolo county on Monday.

According to the deputy governor of Western Equatoria state Alsapana Abui, the incident caused a lot of confusion in the region.

Speaking to SRS on Tuesday in Yambio Abui narrated what happened as he called on the people of the two states to maintain peace as the referendum nears.

[Alsapana Abui]: “Yesterday at night I got a phone call from Mvolo there was confusion in the area caused by people who came from Wulu. Six of these people came to areas of Mvolo, two places actually close to Mvolo; Dolo and Wowo. These people claimed that they have come to establish referendum registration centers and they want to close the already established centers which are in those locations. We should maintain peace between us and Lakes state that’s just a small misunderstanding that came in created by few individuals. It should not be taken as if Mvolo is against the people of Wulu or Wulu against the people of Mvolo.”

He urged people to continue to register as the issue is being resolved.
