CPA Partners Raise Pending Issues To Presidency
15 November 2010 – (Khartoum) – The head of African Union High Level Panel the former South African President, Thabo Mbeki met the two parties to the CPA, the NCP and the SPLM in Khartoum on Sunday.
According to Mbeki, they discussed the pending issues in the CPA, post referendum issues and the Abyei Referendum.
Mbeki spoke to the press after his meeting with the 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents of the country, Salva Kiir and Ali Osman Taha.
[Thabo Mbeki]: “We have been talking to the vice presidents about Abyei. As you know during this week, we have been involving the two parties the NCP and the SPLM have been involved in discussions on framework documents to provide the framework that will address all of the outstanding matters relating to the implementation of the CPA and relating to post referendum issues. So the whole week the parties have been interacting on that. And we are about to conclude that document. As I have said it’s a framework document that contains a variety of matters that has to do with borders, to deal with referendums, to deal with security and so on. As well post referendum issues.”
Mbeki also said that the pending issues pertaining to Abyei have been raised to the presidency and shall be dealt with as an urgent matter.
