Digital Atlas For Southern Information Launched
23 July 2010 - (Juba) – The Southern Sudan Center for Census Statistics and Evaluation has launched a digital Atlas that contains useful information about southern Sudan.
The statistics was provided by the information management working group for southern Sudan formed in June this year.
The Chairman of Southern Sudan Center for Census Statistics and Evaluation Charles Agono Mune spoke to SRS on Thursday during the launch of the digital Atlas.
[Charles Agono]: “The information about Southern Sudan is scattered everywhere, NGOs, UN agencies and government institutions. The idea of statistics center established in this group is to collect information from different agencies so that they are up in the statistics center and everybody who is interested to access statistics data can get it from the statistics center for Southern Sudan. We have information about education, about health, infrastructure, meteorology and geology and other variety of information. The idea is you can see there are some NGOs and UN agencies some times they want to construct a health center. You would find that they construct the health center near to an area where there is a health center. Now there is information about health centers and population in that atlas. Now for development partners they can use it to locate their social facilities like health education and so on.”
Charles Agono says they have omitted statistic of the contested areas along South-North border areas and payams in all ten states of Southern Sudan.
