Dismissal Of Southernn MPs In National Assembly Will Affect Outstanding CPA Issues
23 February 2011 – (Khartoum) – SPLM members in the national assembly say if the federal government removes SPLM officials in the government, the implementation of the outstanding issues in the CPA will be affected.
The CPA is supposed to guide the two parties the SPLM and the NCP until the end of the interim period on July 9th 2011.
The leader of the SPLM Parliamentary Caucus in the National Legislature, Thomas Wani Kundu spoke SRS from Khartoum on Wednesday.
[Thomas Kundu]: “If they talk of sending out members of the southern Sudan S-P-L-M from the national parliament, how will they form the referendum commission for the people of Abyei? That is a challenging issue and other outstanding issues like the border demarcation although nothing is to be prepared in the parliament but we as legislators were to be there to monitor what exactly is going on so as other post-referendum arrangements which are going on at this time.”
Southern Sudan is due to become a new state by July 9th after southern Sudanese overwhelmingly voted in favor of secession.
