Employees Chamber Calls On Employees To Take Work Seriously

11 February 2011 - (Juba) – The Chairman of Employees’ Justice Chamber, Moses Idoru Nyama is urging employees in Central Equatoria state to take their duties seriously to boost development.

Speaking to SRS in Juba on Friday, Idoru said that employees should know that they must work for eight hours daily and be paid accordingly.

[Moses Idoru]: “Every employee must be re-educated to know that he or she must render eight hours service. If your time is to report at eight and you go home at five, we would have to see that those supervising, the overseers and everybody given the responsibility to take care of the employees must focus to it that the record of services is maintained. We also have to look at it that, those monitoring the work should at least ensure that there is cut of pay for those who are not turning up and the repetition of this kind of things must result to a disciplinary action because someone repeating several times means that this person has no interest in service. We are going to focus on promotion of the active employees in different sectors in all the ministries.”

Idoru also added that any worker who is not receiving his or her proper dues in any government institution should report to the chamber for assistance.

[Moses Idoru]: “If they followed the procedure and they found it hard, they should turn to the Employees Justice chamber and tell us. Then we will know what steps to take. You know we are just like a doctor there. If they don’t come, we will not go to them because we do not know who to treat. Until a patient comes to you and says this is where my problem is, and then we say, ok this is how to handle it. We have our lawyer and the lawyer is ready to render services and the whole chamber is ready to render services but to only those who come. So, let them turn up, so that we can address their issues.”
