Fear of Child Abduction In Juba County

13 July 2010 - (Juba) –People in Lirya Payam in Juba County are living in fear because of child abductors in the area.

Speaking to SRS on Tuesday the minister of local government and law enforcement in Central Equatoria state, Paterno Legge, has confirmed that a twelve year old girl was abducted.

[Paterno Legge]: “The girl left her farm to go and collect water. Before she reached the borehole the abductors rushed to get hold of this girl. The girl cried and the parents who were working in the field heard the voice of the girl. The mother tried to rescue the daughter but it was so difficult because the mother was having another child tied on her back. The mother was actually threatened with a sword and was asked to leave the girl or be killed.”

Paterno Legge,who is from Lirya, is urging the government to help the people in Lirya Payam.
