GOSS Minister Of Cooperatives And Rural Development Shot dead In His Office

9 February 2011 – (Juba) – The Minister of Cooperatives and Rural Development in the Government of Southern Sudan, Jimmy Lemmy Milla was shot dead on Wednesday morning in his office in Juba.

Addressing the press soon after the incident, the leader of the SPLM Parliamentary caucus in the National Legislature, Thomas Wani Kundu narrates the ordeal.

[Thomas Wani]: “According to reliable sources, the person who committed the crime is an in–law and stays with Jimmy and we then got the information from different people that they had some misunderstanding on the sense that he was suspended from the job. Jimmy suspended him two months ago and he was claiming for money. So when they were coming this morning the driver packed the car and then the body guard escorted Jimmy up to the storey building. Behind here the suspected criminal then decided to break the glass, picked out the Kalashnikov got up to the building and started threatening people saying he had no problem with anybody except Jimmy (deceased). So, he started shooting the bodyguard and immediately broke the door which was not locked and shot Jimmy Lemmy (deceased) five bullets and he died instantly.”

The assailant reportedly shot dead the bodyguard of the minister just before killing the minister.

It is not yet known whether the assailant was arrested or not.
