GOSS Minister Urges Southerners To Devote Their Effors Towards Successful Referendum

12 November 2010 – (Rumbek) – The GOSS Minister of Interior Gier Chuang is calling upon the people of southern Sudan to devote their efforts towards the success of the referendum.

Minister Gier is visiting the different states in the south to oversee the security preparations and arrangements ahead of the registration exercise.

He spoke to SRS in Rumbek on Thursday.

[Gier Chuang]: “The south at all levels should not allow itself to be provoked and taken into a situation of not conducting the referendum because this is what the enemies would wish to achieve. So I call upon the people of these states that time has come for us to unite, forget and reflect on one thing only, the referendum, because its one time thing that will conclude and close the chapter of the conflict in the south or Sudan. They have to work very hard to vote for they want to achieve.”

Gier added that the referendum is a collective responsibility and every southern Sudanese should participate to ensure its success.
