Governor Of Western Equatoria Hopeful For A Reconciliation Conference
17 February 2011 – (Yambio) – The governor of Western Equatoria State, Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro said that he hopes a reconciliation conference can be held with neighboring Lakes state after clashes erupted between the two border communities.
The clashes in Mvolo county of Western Equatoria and Wulu county of Lakes state, which began on February 9th is believed to have killed at least 23 people.
Speaking to Sudan Radio Service from Yambio on Thursday Bakosoro reiterated the importance of a reconciliation conference between the two communities.
[Joseph Bakosoro]: “There should be a reconciliation conference between the two communities at the border. You know we had this conflict between the two communities in Mvolo county and Yirol. We always need reconciliation, we always need peace among our selves and we need all the two communities to come down. And until we meet us a government of the two states then will we sort out the differences and find the right solutions where the two communities can agree. We don’t need violence and we shall still continue to look for peace by all means.”
Joseph Bakosoro called upon citizens of the two states to remain calm and maintain peace with their neighbors, citing that such differences may lead to another conflict.
