JEM Says Government Willing To Continuw With Peace Talks

21 February 2011 – (Doha) – The Darfur anti government the Justice and Equality Movement, JEM says the government is willing to continue talks with the movement.

The JEM secretary for negotiation, Ahmed Togud Lisan, told SRS on Sunday from Doha that the government expressed its readiness to continue the negotiations with JEM in a meeting last Thursday.

He spoke to SRS from Doha on Sunday.

[Ahmed Togud]: “During a meeting with the mediators, it became clear that the government is willing to continue dialogue with JEM. And this has made the movement to continue dialogue with the government. However the government is committed to finishing the negotiations by the end of the month. The negotiation process must reach the final stage, this is an estimation and a tactical stand, but they don’t have a choice except to come for a long dialogue with JEM and resolve the basic issues, now we are at the preparation stages to enter political negotiation with the government party.”
