Kiir Campaigns in Turalei

26 March 2010 - (Turalei) – The SPLM GOSS presidential candidate Salva Kiir Mayardit arrived in Turalei, Warrap state on Wednesday to launch his presidential campaign in the state.

Kiir was accompanied by the SPLM presidential candidate for GONU, Yasir Arman and the SPLM secretary-general Pagan Amum.

Speaking to SRS from Turalei, SPLM youth leader Angelo Kwanyin Bol said that Kiir would address security issues in the state.

[Angelo Kwanyin Bol]: "I think the main problem that is going to be addressed is about the security issue between Unity state and Warrap state. Last week, eleven people were murdered by cattle rustlers from Unity state and the community in Turalei and especially in Aweng was very bitter and they want the president to do something about it. I think he has been briefed. And the other thing is about trying to convince people why the SPLM is the best party to vote for."

The SPLM presidential candidates are expected to tour Abyei and Aweng, on the border between Unity and Warrap states.
