Kiir Is Fine, Says GOSS Mission In Nairobi

14 July 2010 - (Nairobi) – The head of the Government of Southern Sudan mission in Kenya dismissed a report that GOSS President Salva Kiir was sick and had been hospitalized at the Nairobi Hospital.

Michael Majok spoke to SRS in Nairobi on Wednesday.

[Michael Majok]: “He went back yesterday, he is alright, he is not sick. You know people just make some speculations that he is sick, but he is not sick. He’s never been hospitalized. He was in the Serena Hotel and came to visit his children for two or three days and then he went back to Juba. It’s normal that one comes and stays in Kenya for a while. I don’t think that the sickness was big or small, no, he was not sick it’s just that medical doctors came to see him and he was normal. You know Doctor Adwok is Sudanese and if he visits Salva people will think that he is sick, but he was in the hotel and he just went to visit his family and then go back. He is proceeding to Aweil today for a conference.”
