Libya Consul Says Protests In Libya Is Due To Arabic Media Conspiracy

25 February 2011 – (Juba) –The Libyan consul to southern Sudan in Juba Mr Abdul-hakim Abdu-salam said that the protest in Libya is an Arabic media conspiracy against the Libyan government.

Since the 17th of February, Libya has become the latest country to be hit by popular revolts which has swept over the Arab World since the beginning of this year.

Abdu-salam told SRS on Friday in Juba that the protest is just a group of youth causing chaos in the country.

[Abdul hakim]: “What is happening now in Libya is a conspiracy so unfortunately it is a very strong and aggressive conspiracy in an unbelievable way that all the Libyan people are surprised with. This conspiracy is led by many of the Arabic media houses. We called our relatives, our people, brothers and our friends and they all denied whatever is broadcasted through the Arabia TV, El-Jazira TV, BBC, El-Hura TV and many other media stations. It is an aggressive attack as I told you they are a bunch or group of youngsters who were known by the Libyan government that they would demonstrate peacefully but they exploited the opportunity and attacked the military barracks, police stations, hospitals and governmental institutions and setting fire in most of these institutions.”

According to the French government, at least 2,000 people have been killed in the protests.
