Malaria Increases Among Children in Upper Nile
20 May 2010 - (Malakal) – Health authorities in Malakal, Upper Nile state say that Malaria is increasing among children in the region.
The director general of Malakal Teaching Hospital, Doctor Tut Gony, spoke to SRS on Thursday by phone from Malakal. He said that most of the children who are brought to the hospital are suffering from malaria.
[Dr. Tut Gony]: “Malaria and diarrhea is common in this hospital among the children. Sometimes children with malaria also suffer from diarrhea, especially with the changes in weather. It is not cholera.”
Gony is calling on citizens to use mosquito nets to reduce the risk of infection.
