Ministry Of Sports In Collaboration With China To Enhance Sports Activities

4th March 2011 – (Juba) –The GOSS Minister of Sport, Youth and Recreation says his ministry is working with the government of China to develop sports activities in the region.

On Wednesday, Makuach Teny met a Chinese delegation and discussed possible ways of cooperation with the ministry.

Speaking to SRS on Friday, Minister Makuach Teny said his ministry is working hard to empower youth in southern Sudan.

[Makuach Teny]: “We are trying to find out what is the program the Chinese people can do regarding the youth, what are the techniques the Chinese use in order to empower the youth of china so that we use the same techniques here in south Sudan to empower our youth and to make them productive instead of unproductive youth whom we have here in south Sudan. In the first place was how china developed sport activities so that we can benefit from their experience and transfer it to our people here.”

According to the minister, the Chinese delegation donated sports equipment including basketball and sports uniforms to the ministry. The delegation also promised to rehabilitate the stadium.
