National Opposition Holds A Sit In Strike
28 February 2011 – (Khartoum) –The national opposition political forces is holding a sit-in strike on Monday in Khartoum, calling on the federal government to release the leader of the Popular Congress Party Abdalla Hassan Al-Turabi among other political detainees.
The secretary of the UMMA National party Sadiq Mohamed Ismail spoke to SRS in Khartoum on Monday.
[Sadiq Ismael]: “The opposition alliance is organizing an open sit-in today from 2Pm to 6Pm at the PCP administration calling on the government to respond to the demands of the people of Sudan and freedom of human rights by releasing the political prisoners. In the PCP, we think everyone should be given back his rights and freedom, on top of the list the secretary general of the PCP Dr. Hassan Al-Turabi. We think people should be granted their freedoms and these demands must be met."."
Security agents raided the home of the leader of the PCP Hassan Al-Turabi in January and detained him after the opposition promised to call for a public uprising to overthrow the government.
