No Turn Out In Khartoum
15 November 2010 – (Khartoum) – Conducting a tour around several registration centers in Khartoum, SRS learnt that the turnout was very low.
The head of Tahnoun center at Al-Girafe West area in Khartoum, Mr. Ismaeil Ibrahim told SRS that no one had come to register at the center.
[Ismaeil Ibrahim]: “Our work starts since eight in the morning till five in the evening. At the end of the work, we close everything and the police guard them. There are a number of identifiers, local and international observers. Today is the fifteenth first day of registration. We opened at half past seven, now it is something past eleven and unfortunately no citizen has come to register, no eligible voter has come. My estimation is that there are many reasons for that, maybe because today is a holiday.”
Officials at Mayo Wasat center and Al-Salama centers in Khartoum also told SRS that people had not come to register.
