North And South To Continue Depending On Each Other Beyond Independence Of The South
9th March 2011 – (Bentiu) -The governor of Unity State says that the north and the south will continue to depend on each other beyond independence of south Sudan.
Speaking during a celebration by the White Nile Petroleum Operating Company, marking the independence of South Sudan at Tharjath, south of Bentiu last week, Taban Deng Gai describes what the two nations share in common.
[Taban Deng Gai] “There cannot be northern Sudan without South Sudan and vice versa, we have a lot in common and one of the commonality is where we are now. The issues of oil are very central to both nations. Oil will continue to guide us and unite us serving the interest of both nations”.
However, analysts believe that the 21-year old Sudan’s civil war was fuelled by the oil.
