Peaceful Procession For The Succes Of Conduct Of Referendum
2nd March 2011 – (Juba) –Central Equatoria state ministry of education conducted a peaceful procession for the successful conduct of the referendum and its positive results on Wednesday in Juba.
The director general of education in the state, Mr. David Loila Ladu Modi spoke to SRS during the procession.
[David Loila]: “We organized the program because of the referendum result for south Sudan to be a nation. Students also voted in large numbers for the separation of south Sudan because they know before the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, schools were not as they are. There are changes during these five or six years. Student benefitted from this peace. Before the peace the number of students could not reach 3000 but now in central equatorial state alone there are 138,835 and this is a great achievement. If southern Sudan becomes a nation then our children will all come to school.”
SRS sought the views of students from Juba Day secondary School.
[Voice]: “This procession is done because we are going to give our hearty feelings because we suffered for 21 years in the bush and we get our nation, that is why are going to express our gratitude because since the result was announced we as students did not give thanks for our president.”
[Voice]: “As students now we are free, we will not go any more to study somewhere else or to Khartoum or elsewhere. We will study here, our universities, they should transfer from Khartoum; we need to be bring back so that we will not go back to Khartoum to study there.
The procession was attended by students from eleven secondary schools in Juba.
