Poor Registration Turnout In Lakes State
23 November 2010 – (Rumbek) – An official at the Lakes state Referendum High Committee is calling on the people of the state to come and register for the referendum.
Mabor Riak Magok said that since the referendum registration exercise began on Monday the 15th November, the turnout has been poor.
[Mabor Riak Magok]: “My message to all the citizens of southern Sudan at large is that the turnout in Lakes state is actually very low, and we are encouraging the state citizens especially the youth, women groups, chiefs, churches, leaders and also the Galweng Youth. So we are urging them to make a good turn out’ we encouraging them actually to make turn out because the turn out now is very low and we are encouraging them to come to registration centers which is closer to them.”
Mabor appealed to all people eligible to register to do so before the end of the exercise for them to be able to participate in the referendum in 2011.
