Sudan And Egypt Review Bilateral Economic Agreements
9th March 2011 – (Egypt) –Sudan and Egypt are reviewing bilateral economic agreements especially the sharing of the Nile water among riparian countries to avoid conflicts.
Addressing a press conference in Cairo on Tuesday, the federal minister of foreign affairs, Ali Karti said that President Omar al-Bashir and Egyptian authorities are discussing economic development.
[Ali Karti]: “There has been a number of agreements in the past ratified between Sudan and Egypt in terms of economic issues. And we feel that there is need for enforcing and implementing these agreements. However, the most important discussion was focused on the stability of the situation in Egypt. And regarding the Nile Water Basin president Bashir said that both countries Egypt and Sudan will cooperate and discuss with the other riparian countries in order to avoid conflicts. The president met today {Tuesday} with the chief of the military council of Egypt who was accompanied by Egyptian dignitaries and ministers. The meeting was about the Bilateral relationship between Egypt and Sudan.”
President Bashir is expected to return to Sudan on Thursday after spending two days in Egypt.
