Sudan Embassy In Kenya Continues To Offer Immigration Services

The Sudan embassy in Kenya says, it will continue to offer immigration services to all Sudanese in Kenya until the end of the interim period in July.

The Sudanese acting ambassador to Kenya, Beder el din Abdalla Mohammed, spoke to SRS in Nairobi on Thursday.

[Beder el din Abdalla Mohammed]: “We are open and we have directed our consular section here to offer all the immigration services to all the Sudanese; from the south and the North up to the 9th of July.”

The head of the GoSS Liaison mission in Kenya, Michael Majok Ayom told SRS on Thursday that the embassy will however not issue new passports to southern Sudanese.

[Michael Majok Ayom] “The embassy still renews both the ordinary and the diplomatic passports. It is only the new passports and the nationality certificates that can not be issued. So, you can neither be issued with a new passport nor a new national certificate. This is because we only have 4 months before Sudan splits in to two states. As the liaison office, we issue traveling documents for those who want to go back to the south. So, if you want to go back to south Sudan, we have a traveling document that will take you to Juba.”

Southern Sudan will be declared an independent nation on the 9th of July.
