19 July 2010 - (Nairobi) – And now to the world of sports

We begin with athletics; On Friday the 800 meter Indoor Champion Abubakr Kaki won yet another gold medal for Sudan in the Samsung Diamond League in Paris on Friday.

It has been a tremendous year so far for the Sudanese athlete who won a number of gold medals from different international athletic competitions.

Football next; In the Orange Confederations Cup tournament Al-Merriekh drew with their guests AS-FAN of Niger 2-2 in their stadium in Omdurman on Saturday. And still in the Confederations Cup, on Sunday it was Al-Hilal’s turn to play their home game against their guests Caps United of Zimbabwe.

The final result of the game was 5-0 to the Sudanese giants. And by securing the five goals, Al-Hilal has simplified their away mission which will be played in Niger in two weeks time.

And finally; the Sudanese community in Cairo, Egypt held an acclamation ceremony to pay tribute to the life of the late Manut Bol on Saturday in All Saints Cathedral.
The ceremony was attended by many dignitaries, a number of Sudanese sports personnel living in Egypt and others.

Speeches delivered during the event communicated the sadness of the community members upon the death of the former NBA star.

Manut Bol the former NBA star died at the age of forty seven in the United States last month after suffering a kidney failure.
