SUNDE Circulates Guidebooks For Referendum Registration

9 November 2010 – (Juba) – The Sudanese Network for Democratic Elections, SUNDE, is circulating guidebooks for registration.

The registration guide which is in form of drawings is meant mainly for those who do not know how to read and write.

Taban Silvio is the Policy and advocacy officer at SUNDE. He spoke to SRS in Juba on Tuesday.

[Taban Silvio] “These are guide books for the registration. These books specifically give steps on how a voter can register for the referendum and most of the important materials like the necessities which are needed from the citizens before they could register, some of the things that are needed from them and the general process of the registration itself. We give them to organized groups and some citizens who are interested; those who feel that they will go out and educate other people on how they can register for referendum.

The guide books were produced by the National Democratic Institute, a non-profit, non-partisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government.
