Traffic Police Holds Road Safety Workshop In Yambio

16 November 2010 – (Yambio) – Traffic Police administration in Yambio, Western Equatoria state held a one-day workshop on road safety on Tuesday.

The workshop was organized by the Traffic Police administration in Yambio in conjunction with United Nations Office for Project Services, UNOPS.

A representative of UNOPS, Batty Odungu explains the purpose of the workshop.

[Batty Odungu]: “The purpose of this meeting is to raise awareness about the need to use our roads safely and also to sensitize the road users on their obligations, and how to interpret the road signs and traffic signs appropriately in order to save lives. And we also believe that since now we are going to vote in a month’s time road safety is very important. So I feel this meeting is very timely.”

The director for traffic police in Yambio, Major General Moses Ibn also said the workshop aims to reduce the rate of accidents in the area.
