UN Human Rights Council On A Fact Finding Mission In Sudan
4th March 2011 – (Khartoum) –The UN Human Rights Council is on a fact finding mission to southern Sudan, Abyei and Darfur to ascertain human rights abuses in the region and to look into post CPA issues.
In a press release issued by the representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Sudan, the independent expert on the human rights issues in Sudan, Justice Mohamed Chande Othman will meet with key government officials, civil society actors, human rights defenders and representatives of the international community.
Chande will arrive on Saturday and is expected to present a report on his findings to the Human Rights Council.
Justice Chande was first appointed by the Council in October 2009. He first visited southern Sudan in January 23rd last year.
