Western Bahr El-Ghazal State Government Donates Food Items And Fuel To Victims Of Abyei Clashes

10th March 2011 – (Wau) –Western Bahr El-Ghazal state government has donated food items and two hundred barrels of fuel for the people of Abyei affected by the recent clashes.

The Governor of Western Bahr El-Ghazal State, Rizik Zakaria Hassan spoke to Sudan Radio Service from Wau on Thursday.

[Rizik Zakaria]: “Yes there was a huge gathering of people and a demonstration in Wau where the state expressed its condemnation to attacks on Abyei by Messiriya, Popular Defense Forces, the Sudan Armed Forces and the government of Khartoum. The state donated 200 barrels of fuel for the Abyei area Administration and we donated twenty metric tons of food. And also we issued administrative decisions that every shop in our state must donate an amount of fifty Sudanese Pounds for Abyei. And also every company registered and operating here in the state, we said each must pay one thousand pounds as donation for Abyei”.

Mister Zakaria said that a seven-member committee has been formed to oversee the donations which will be taken to Abyei next week.

On Wednesday, Wau town residents organized a peaceful demonstration to condemn the attacks being carried out in the Abyei area.
