Women In Rumbek Urged To Go Register

17 November 2010 – (Rumbek) – The women in Rumbek county, Lakes state say they are overwhelmed with household responsibilities making it difficult for them to go and register.

Victoria Alek came to register at Matangai registration center in Rumbek county. Speaking to SRS Alek called on men to encourage their women to come out in large numbers to register.

[Victoria Alek]: “The men do not do more work than women. The ladies do more work at homes. But today we inform the men that let ladies come and register their names. So my message to others who have not come to register today is that let them come tomorrow especially the ladies let them come tomorrow and register their names. This is our time we ladies we want to participate one hundred percent.”

Victoria Alek, a resident of Rumbek county, spoke to SRS on Wednesday.
