Would Be New Govewrnment Of Southern Sudan To Be Recognized Internationally
25 February 2011 – (Juba) – The Vice President of the Government of Southern Sudan says the government hopes to be recognized internationally as it is reviewing international laws.
In a media forum in Juba on Thursday, Doctor Riek Machar said that the GoSS will protect human rights to gain international recognition.
[Riek Machar]: “People who have suffered for long time can not turn around and be oppressive; we would be abusing human rights. We are reviewing all the conventions and international treaties that Sudan has committed us to. We are looking at them not that we are going to reject them. These include the international conventions of the United Nations. By the 9th we would love to be recognized by the one hundred and ninety two countries. We will be the one ninety three. There should be no inhibition for our recognition, not the laws, not human rights, not anything.”
That was the GOSS Vice President, Riek Machar addressing a media forum in Juba on Thursday.
