Zero-Tolerance On Corruption, Says GOSS President Kiir

9 February 2011 – (Juba) – GOSS President Salva Kiir has announced a zero-tolerance policy on corruption in all government institutions and officials in the south.

Addressing a press conference at the State House in Juba on Tuesday, Kiir said that it is now time to combat corruption which has been an issue in the last six years of the CPA.

[Salva Kiir]: “Integrity in public service; we shall have zero tolerance to corruption. Of course you all know that this is what people have been talking about, that there is corruption in the government of southern Sudan and that it will be a failed state if it becomes a free state. It is not true and I don’t believe that there is corruption. I concentrated on the implementation of the CPA and that gave the opportunity for the thieves to put their hands in the coffers of the government. Now that the referendum is over, I must assure those people that the war against them will now begin and I assure that nobody will be left to get out with anything that does not belong to him or her.”
